The Diputació de Lleida is the institution that has housed the seat of the government of the province of Lleida since 1898. The work of Celestí Campmany, it was built as a hospice on top of the old Hospital of the Holy Spirit destroyed by the War of Succession, with part of the property of Gaspar de Portolà.
The facade of the Rambla de Ferran, more classicist, was made by "Regiones devastadas" in the post-war period. On the facade of Carrer del Carme, the wrought iron work of Balcó del Serraller (1761) stands out. And the side facade of the descent of the Audience presents the stained glass windows of the Saló de Plens (formerly the courtyard of the old hospice), framed and crowned by floral garlands that complement the discreet monumentality of the whole.
On the ground floor and on the three floors there is a set of fresco paintings begun by Jaume Minguel (1964) and continued by Josep Minguell, his son, who also carried out the paintings in the basement (2002) and the murals on the facade of the Rambla Ferran (2007).
The oil on wood painting "El Batlle d'Almatret" (1910) located in Sala Viladrich, which shows the mayor of Almatret Toni Pinar Calderó, is also noteworthy. In the basement of the palace, there are remains of the old medieval tanneries, part of the old city wall made up of the section of Carrer Anselm Clavé and other remains located in the basement of the commercial axis.
The Palace of the Diputació houses, among others, the Patronat de Turisme (Regional Tourist Board), created to manage and dynamiser the tourist offer of all Lleida counties.
