The Lleida Museum, founded in 1988, became an institutional consortium in 1997 when it was integrated by the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Diputació de Lleida, the Diocese of Lleida, the Segrià Regional Council and the Lleida City Council. It has two large centuries-old collections: the archaeological and the artistic, provided by the Institute of Ilerdencs Studies and the former Diocesan Museum of Lleida respectively; in addition to the collections from the Chapter of the Cathedral of Lleida, and some specific deposits of the National Museum of Art of Catalonia and the Museum of Archeology of Catalonia.

The building is the work of the architect Joan Rodon and is located where the former convent of the Discalced Carmelites of Lleida stood, a temple from the beginning of the 17th century. Together with the Historical Archive of Lleida, the Public Library and the University of Lleida, the Museum of Lleida has become a key piece in the revitalization of a neighborhood specializing in culture and knowledge.

The Lleida Museum houses stone sculptural elements from the Seu Vella, the wall paintings of the Pia Almoina, the Gothic painting on a table from the Ferrer workshop, the sculpture of the 14th century belonging to the so-called Escola de Lleida, the tapestries of Flemish invoice, as well as some objects from the Treasury of the Cathedral.

In addition, the Lleida Museum carries out initiatives such as family and themed visits, an educational program or music concerts and lecture series.
