The Purgatori cellar, owned by the Torres family since 1999, is located inside the old cellar-farm built in 1770 by order of the Abbey of Montserrat.
Mas de l'Aranyó is located near the Els Bessons Protected Natural Area, in Les Garrigues. Renovated following energy efficiency criteria with the installation of photovoltaic panels, and inaugurated in September 2018, it is a space of 1.800 m2 intended for the production of a single wine, the only one in the Torres family of the DO Costers del Segre.
Purgatori, born in 2012, is an energetic, warm and elegant wine, the result of the long and quiet maturation of the indigenous grenache and carignan varieties. With a seductive floral and fruity aroma and pine and dried fruit scents, Purgatori has become the emblem of the Torres family when it won the Vinari award for the best wine of Catalonia 2021 with its 2016 edition. Since then, both the wine's first and recent editions are obtaining numerous national and international recognitions.
The estate has 100 hectares of olive trees and 200 hectares of organically certified vineyards, of which 50 hectares are dedicated to Purgatori, from where around 35,000 bottles are produced.
