Description
When someone approaches Lleida by any of its access roads, the first thing they see is the Seu Vella, on top of the hill, the higher of the two that characterize the city's skyline.
The other hill, Gardeny, is an important part of the Lleida's history.
Both hills, together with the river Segre, frame the old city, built around the hill of La Seu, walled until the middle of the 19th century.
Program
The route consists of a visit to two attractions:
- La Seu Vella, the most outstanding building in the monumental complex, and the monument with which, without a doubt, the city of Lleida is identified.
- The Templar Castle of Gardeny, one of the most outstanding witnesses of the Templar architecture built in Catalonia during the second half of the twelfth century. (*)
(*) The visit includes a screening of an audiovisual about the origins of the Templar communities, the rules that governed them and the particularities of the Templar House of Gardeny.
